Brothers and Sisters,

Your executive board had the opportunity to be down in Olympia for the WSCFF Legislative Conference on February 19th and 20th.  We met with all of our representatives from the 27th and 29th legislative districts and had good conversations about the issues impacting our respective worlds.  Although we were not successful in securing the funding for our Public Safety Enhancement Account, your WSCFF lobbyists along with your executive board, were successful in fighting off legislation that would have been most harmful to labor.

LEOFF 2 Bills that were successfully passed and sent to the Governor's desk for signature were HB 2456, which, corrected a language error in previous legislation that would have omitted paramedics from LEOFF 2 and SB 6201, which, allows LEOFF 2 members to purchase an unlimited annuity through DRS using 457 savings.  Another Bill that was successful was SB 6517, which, adds drivers license, identicard, and employee identification numbers to personal information not allowed to be disclosed to the public.

With session now closed, politicians will be starting to fund raise and look for endorsement for the special election on April 22nd as well as the general election this November.  Please refer back to this website to view Local 31 endorsements as the season progresses.  We will also be sending out email and text messages when we need your help doorbelling or signbuilding so, please update your email address and phone number so that our messages reach you.  Thank you!

Alex
