Local 31 is proud to announce that 9 of our 11 endorsements were successful this election!  Locally, we were able to retain Ander Ibsen and Ryan Mello on the Tacoma City Council--these two gentleman have been great supporters of us throughout their terms on the council.  We also got Connor McCarthy elected to the council, replacing David Boe--Connor will be an increase to our support on the council.  Unfortunately, Tom McCarthy was not successful in attaining the seat for the 3rd but, Local 31 is confident that the successful candidate, Keith Blocker, will be supportive and we look forward to working with him in the future. In Fife, we were able to retain Bryan Yambe, who got 75% of the vote and in Fircrest, we were able to retain our friend Hunter George on the council there.  Both Fire Commissioners we supported were elected, Grant Erb for WPFR and Pat McElligott for EPFR.  Our endorsement for Metro Parks Tacoma, Jessie Baines, has a 665 vote lead as of this time--he is a great young man that we are sure will strive to higher offices in the future.  Catherine Ushka was successful in retaining her Tacoma School Board position.  Finally and unfortunately, Initiative 1366 was passed but, we are certain that this will most likely be ruled unconstituitional.  Please give Alex or any of your Local 31 officers or board members a call if you have any questions or concerns.
